(Mat 23:15) Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

How is it possible to convert another human from their pagan religion . . . to Judaism and their spiritual wellbeing be worse than before?

Surely introducing another human to God can not be a problem . . . or is it?

Is it possible . . . the new convert is ingesting the wrong spiritual food?

Could the new convert be putting his focus on . . . his new found mentors?

Jesus instructed his students . . . to go to all the world . . . and instruct men in all his commandments.

So what was different in the commandments of Jesus verses the commandments of Moses?

Did Jesus instruct his students to build a building and get together every week?

Below are the instructions of Jesus to his students.

Luk 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
Luk 10:3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
Luk 10:4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
Luk 10:5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
Luk 10:6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
Luk 10:7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
Luk 10:8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
Luk 10:9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
Luk 10:10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,
Luk 10:11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
Luk 10:12 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

So . . . Heal the sick and inform them . . . the Kingdom of God is available to you.

So . . . we are to heal the sick and teach men the Kingdom of God is their answer to all their problems?

So . . . what is the Kingdom of God?

I know it's not a building. I know it's not a communal assembly . . . Judaism assembles every week in a building.

Could it be an individual spiritual relationship with a King?
(Mat 13:15) For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Jesus presumably expected his listeners to go to synagogue like they normally would. That service morphed into the basic Christian service (I know, our tunes aren't as cool and we really haven't learned the right way to slaughter a bagel, but we started with a Jewish practice, moved the Sabbath dinner and made it the main practice, then eliminated most of the nutritional value. Until some (Protestant or Quaker?) denomination introduced the Potluck.)

So what are we Intended to do during worship services? (I know, we should be worshiping God aka giving God our respectful attention 24/7, but I'm talking specifically about meeting with others for some practice we hope will please God.) How about: whatever we can arrange that helps those present better connect to Spirit, whether this turns out to be silent sitting, singing or chanting, dancing, study, or painting etc?

I don't know about you, Alice, but I don't have "a community of folks doing this," and suspect that would be hard to find one around here. Now & then I recognize somebody doing it, but so far haven't been led into any sort of institutional connection with them. The institutional Quaker connections seem pretty dead, kind of beside the point except that I'd like to see us become that kind of community...

Alice

I look forward to the day . . . when our King rewards you with your kingdom.
