Dumping my old culture five years ago was an important spiritual step. I saw myself clothed in chains of my old culture. As each cultural chain broke off my body I felt a new freedom and sadness at the same time. I thought the sadness . . . that I experienced was me . . . It was not me . . It was a spirit trying to bring me back to my old culture. The instant I saw the spirit it became powerless over me.
I've saw a different spirit this week, and it stood with power . . . until I heard God speak to me these words " It came Out of Egypt". And now . . . I can look back and see how it works . . . and controls people.
From Adam to Jacob . . . men worshiped God in the open. And God warned Abraham do not go to Egypt. And I now know what God was talking about when he warned Abraham do not go to Egypt.
The Pharaoh's of Egypt learned how to controlled the masses. Pharaoh's do not have power if the masses are not tied to a system of dependent control. The masses must be taught that they can only hear the voice of God at the temple of the Gods. An earthly temple is where the masses can congregate. An earthly temple will keep the masses in a local geographical location. What a brilliant idea. And the temple also serves as a foundation that will last . . . to serve the next generation spiritually . . . so the parents can rest at ease about the spiritual welfare of their future offspring.
Now . . . how does Pharaoh obtain the funds to maintain the up keep of the building . . . taxes. The culture of Egypt had four hundred years to establish an unbreakable grip on the children of Israel.
We can clearly see this cultural chain at work in John chapter 4. The woman at the well made a statement to Jesus about the temple of the Samaritans vs the temple in Jerusalem. And Jesus tells her . . . she does not know what she is worshiping . . . people will hear the voice of God everywhere . . they do not have to visit a holy place to hear the voice of God.
Jesus never told his students to build a building and meet in a group. He told them to make students of all men. Jesus told his students if you want to hear the voice of God . . . GO TO YOUR CLOSET. Get alone.
Whenever men build a building for the purposed of worship they are saying we do not want a personal relationship with God. They want a group relationship with God.
He never instructed his students . . . lets go to the temple and pray.
Jesus never told his students . . . lets huddle together and pray.
Group prayer has many flaws. First . . . it lets the shy sit back and do nothing. Second . . . it puts pressure on the group leader to produce . . . something or anything for the . . . good of the group. Third . . .it feeds the ego of the group leader or the person that is producing.
