As I was saying, it isn't necessarily everybody's "faith tradition." Many people deny "Christianity" because it's always come with some suspect baggage--while the essence has been too subversive for its supporters to handle. & yeah, it may be easier for many people to die for a belief than to risk embarrassment for it. (I'm lucky; I'm always embarrassing myself anyway!)
Anyway, please blurt more here; I shouldn't have to do it all!
Your last comment reminded me: "
This is what you shall do:
Love the Earth and sun and the animals.
Despise riches. Give alms to everyone that asks.
Stand up for the stupid and crazy.
Devote your income and labor to others.
Hate tyrants. Argue not concerning God.
Have patience and indulgence toward the people.
Take off your hat to nothing known or unknown
Or to any man or any number of men... Re-examine all
You have been told at school or church or in any book.
Dismiss whatever insults your own soul , and
Your very flesh shall be a great poem."
(Walt Whitman)
