A few years ago, a Theosophist friend loaned me a book by this guy. I'd never heard of him, and had no idea what "W.F." stood for. (I just today tried googling him together with 'Mary Baker Eddy,' which gave me a much better fix. Big chunks of his books are now online in various places, including 'Google Books'.)

While he was a Methodist minister (until that church kicked him out), he's very Quakerish in his understanding of religion and its mystical root-- and (for a 19th Century preacher) very good at expounding that.

Anyone else here familiar with him?-- or curious? Please at least take a look, and let us know what you find.... Can modern Friends learn something of value from him?
