Along with the beloved Obadiah stories,  Thee Hannah and others, I find this a lovely resource for First Day Teachers, parents and grandparents.

Of course some of the stories use antiquated language that does not reflect modern approaches to diversity and, beyond the language there can be a paternalistic element to the goody-two shoes Anglo-centric tales of Quakers encountering other cultures.  (And after all in the days many of these tales spring from we were generally quite English people.) Nevertheless those elements can be integrated into discussions of the themes with the children we are laboring with.

Thanks so much for this link.  I was searching for something like this to share with my granddaughters.

Another blessing from you.. Thanks

Rick

Yeah! Has thee tried the Obadiah stories and "Thee Hannah"? Don't know how old the granddaughters are.   .   .

Good morning Laura,

I have not tried the Obadiah stories or Thee Hannah..

My granddaughters are ages 11, 4 and 3.  They "stay over" Friday nights with me and I am attempting to make that a story night instead of a "TV" night.

Thank you

Rick
