Does God repeat God's self.  What if we were to be led in a new direction?

Think of music. Repetition, variation-- and then another tune. Another style. A mixture.

In human history, we seem to keep coming back to the same themes. But our perspective on them changes.

The Creator continues to create things that move in circles, spirals. Patterns like fractals.

From the 80's, Reagan times:

"... I raise my sign again;

the President is coming, going away,

the long line of black, the closed cars

with secret service men waving like flags.

The people cry 'Boo!' like a groan of pain:

Look what you protect, secret service

and all you confident men in elite suits--

Silent, I feel the cry

bearing half a world's despair

after the black cars, the unmarked vans.

The loudspeaker tells us

to please form one big circle

and a mounted policeman smiles sadly

at the long round line holding hands

singing: ain't gonna study

war any more

and: we shall overcome--

Some day, I may believe

the sea gull passing straight over

smooth on invisible wheels through the sky.

[Forrest Curo ~1983]

but since this latest new thing, echoing so many old things, has begun, I'm not doing despair anymore.
