Below or the words of Jesus.

(Mat 6:25)  Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

I would like to hear from anyone that dresses plain or not . . . what or how they view or understand . . . the words of Jesus . . . on this subject.   What and why did . . . Jesus tell us to take no thought about our life, food, drink, our body, our clothing.

And the statement . . .  Is not life more than food and the body than raiment!

I was raised in a culture that was totally against any jewelry . . . no wedding rings . . . nothing metal.

Was Jacob making a mistake . . . in giving Joseph the coat of many colors?

(Luk 15:22)  But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

Jesus in the verse above tells us a story . . . about all of us.  And . . . my old culture could not explain . . . why . . . God put a ring on his sons finger.  My old culture encouraged its members to wear their Sunday Best.

Are not cultures and their ideas interesting?

thanks

Rick

My wife's ex-husband died a few years ago, about a month short of the age when he might have afforded the heart bypass he'd needed. After 20 years of marriage, he remained good friends with her ("I'd do anything for that man except live with him") and she was invited to read a short Bible passage at his funeral at the big Episcopal church downtown.

That morning she was taking a walk. She saw a garage sale, and wandered into it. Normally she'd take more interest in books or picture frames, but this time she noticed a dress with some other clothes: it was black, of a good quality brand she'd seldom been able to afford even when she was doing early music performances. It fit her perfectly, but she didn't really have appropriate shoes to wear with it, until she saw them on a nearby table.
