Event Description

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the re-establishment of the Quakertown Friends Meeting, and the 300th anniversary of the founding of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, a small edition of a new book is about to be released in the Fall of 2011.

An unpublished 1998 manuscript by J.E. Stout, former township historian, was discovered recently. It has been turned into a beautiful 100-page book featuring:

  • A full color cover
  • Over 90 black and white images: photos, maps, vintage documents and paintings
  • A never-before seen photo of the early meeting house that was demolished in 1862
  • Updated info in new chapters and sidebars
  • Thirty chapters cover the history of Quakerism, the founding of Hunterdon, the establishment of Quakertown Meeting and the surrounding community, as well as education, slavery concerns, old meeting notes, the Friends graveyard, and a celebration of the people that made it all happen.

The books are $10 ea. and $5 ea. for postage & handling. Send check or money order payable to: Quakertown Friends Meeting, PO Box 520. Quakertown, NJ 08868
