Over the past three weeks I sought out and was offered the opportunity to help efforts to support the protection and survival of a federally endangered species. This has been part the ebb and flow of my life; small business and the protection of endangered plant and animal species.

Over the past two weeks the field work has been physically demanding ... really exhausting. I'm also working with people I've known in different contexts and meeting many new acquaintances.

The challenge in all this has been giving the physical, mental, and conversational, demands over to Presence so that consciousness remains anchored in and conscience informed by Presence in all activities. In practice, over these past two weeks, there has been many blessings in victory and repentance.

Presence is close upon me; daily filling and renewing consciousness and conscience from moment to moment. However, there are moments in the day that focused Presence dims in the dis-traction of circumstances. Instead of giving the circumstance over to Presence, the circumstance pushing ahead of Presence; dimming Presence by moving into the forefront rather than being bathed in the Light of Presence.

For example, I may witness people engaged in activities that could compromise the success of a particular nesting bird species. The circumstance is worrisome and alarming; instead of  holding to the glory of Presence, a dimming happens and the worry and alarm controls the moment. However, the grace of Presence is always there and watchfulness brings repentance (a re-turning) and victory is restored over the darkness of outward worry and alarm. The circumstance resolves in the Light.

Another example, I spend time observing the behavior of this endangered species. My excitement and joy over these moments of observation sometimes overcomes and fades the light of Presence in consciousness and conscience. Again, the grace of Presence knocks at the door of consciousness and conscience and the Watcher brings repentance and the outward excitement and joy yields and recedes into the horizon of my soul. The Light glorifies the circumstance of excitement and joy.

It is a wonder and a blessing to practice in the presence of Christ in each and every moment of the day. Presence is my practice. Presence is my Meeting House. Presence is my Church. Presence is my religion. Presence is my bible. Presence is my guide. Presence is my discipline. Presence is my law. Presence is my code. What glory it is to walk with and in Christ's presence and to know and experience a faith in the sufficiency of Christ's immediate presence in activities and moments of daily life. Oh, Christ is the manna of my days.
