One might think "mumbling" describes it better, as more incoherent than not, however "murmuring" sounds better.  Today is Easter, and April Fools.

I'm meditating on the foolishness of Man, quite appropriately. I'm going back to Genesis 2-3 when they apparently had the choice of a second tree's fruit, the fruit of Eternal Life.

Given a choice between Eternal Life and this other thing God said no about, and that had a snake on it, a talking one, Man chose this other thing. How smart was that?  One would have to say not very.

Man has ever since been suffering from what in updated terms we'd call a Bad Trip.  Lets be honest: Eden this is not.  Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful planet, better than we deserve.  We're the ones who chose to be judgemental, when we could have enjoyed eternal life.

Our judgementalism nets us the wages of sin, dammit. But what's religion minus judgementalism.  We have no idea.

God was tempted to commit a mercy killing, to abort, but went for a delicate surgical technique instead, putting all his eggs in one basket, the Arc. When that was over, He vowed never again.

But yo, the Children of Noah were committed to mono-culture and non-diversity and so were building a tall tower, even unto god.  False idols never pay off as advertised.  Again out of mercy, God confused their tongues.

Humans have this tremendous ambivalence about their own existence, and for this reason stockpile weapons of mass suicide.  Maybe the average human hasn't such a death wish, but who says core decision makers aren't more psychopathic than average.  Studies show....

Yes, I wander. Enough murmurings. Too bad about choosing the wrong tree guy. I get why we're having a Bad Trip, even if it's like a code language, this Genesis stuff.  God's truth is not mere human truth, I get it.

Addendum:  according to some theologians, there was only a single tree; the "two tree" reading was in error. However, according to Wikipedia, according to a 1994 poll, most practicing theologians adhere to the two tree reading, although the second tree is mostly passed over as somehow unworthy of mention.

Of course the good news is God wasn't done trying to fix this species, make it less of a monster.  He sent His only son and appeared among them to bring wisdom, a desperate measure.  He made some friends, but overall, the world was way too dangerous for someone with God's values.

If you're Christian, you might believe that ultimate sacrifice worked.  Or perhaps you believe we each live out that same scenario: that of God appears on Monster World, prepared to save it, times many billions.  Each has a cross to bear.
