Primitive Christianity Revived, Again
There is a question boiling to the top of my consciousness. Is the presence of God in my life measured by my senses or my perception? Is God more present in my life in those moments when I sense His presence or in those moments when I understand that He is in me and with me 24/7? This question grew from a blog of a fellow friend on communion and is being watered by life's daily needs for his help. When Philip approached Jesus at the request of the Greeks He knew that it was only by His sending the Holy Spirit to indwell us that we could be led into all truth. Having the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us into all truth is the same as the Apostles having Jesus to explain the Kingdom of Heaven. As wonderful as sensing His presence is it's just as wonderful to have him send me help when I'm in danger of drowning, literally or figuratively; send Angels to fix my flat, find my keys, move a file to the top of a pile. Sometimes I can bring myself to the point of sensing His presence but it requires some space from the World whereas I can always acknowledge His presence in spite of the World and in fact being in the midst of the World is the perfect time and place to soak in that knowledge that He is with me, I am not alone. I do believe that there are many ways to God but I can't perceive of any of them being easier. Christianity can be so simple, Only Believe.
The Invisible Means of Support is always at work, but is easier to notice when I'm remembering to take God into account, remembering my (experience-and-intuition based) belief that God is the primary force behind anything whatsoever working as it should.
Worried about a sick friend... She and I got a lot better, quite suddenly, when it occurred to me what that worry was showing: what a weak faith I have. Once I copped to that, I knew she was going to be fine.
