Birthright: If it please the Court of Quaker Opinion, we birthright Quakers honor the human families that gave us the privilege of being Friends. We have the benefit of a history of persecution to recommend us.

Adoption: Called to, as with our father Abraham, a new existence, we honor the divine dispensation. We are to benefit the history of salvation.

Birthright: Honor thy father and mother so as to secure a long life upon the earth.

Adoption: Rather, hesitate to honor anyone for "one's enemies will be those of his own household"; but recognize the cause of a division that sets "a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law"(Mt. 10:35-36) in order to secure eternal life in heaven.

Birthright: We are no illegitimate breed, but family Friends who respect Quaker tradition.

Adoption: Yet you will forgo the duty of Meeting that of God if meeting a family tradition is expected instead.

Birthright: We cannot be accused of blindness to "that of God in everyone".

Adoption: Only blindness to your adoption in Christ(Ephesians 1:5) that pits "that of God in everyone" against those family "ways and values" that are "Friendly" to you.

Birthright: Our doors are open to all, and we work to rid the human family of the occasions of war.

Adoption: The adopted family of God is open hearts that apply love and concern to crime, poverty, and exploitation because they are the occasions of war.

Birthright: We know from whence we came and where we are going. We will be satisfied to rest with our ancestors in our burial grounds.

Adoption: Then let the dead bury their dead(Mt. 8:22).
