Primitive Christianity Revived, Again
Yes Forrest, definitely habitat destruction. Also construction though, both "cay" and "decay" (entropy and syntropy).
Margulis (who underlined that "biosphere" is the context, not just "climate") is a big fan of bacteria. If we're looking for an intelligent life form, they might be it. Jury still out on the brainy hominids, who may be too self-destructive for their own good. An experiment (by God, not by me, I'm a guinea pig). Lots of other experiments are going on, safe bet. Or call it Creation.
My dad thought the US had plenty of talented planners already, thanks to the PhD programs newly started in the 1950s in that discipline, so committed to sharing his skill set overseas. He worked closely with Libyans at first, later Egyptians...
All of which growing-up background, wanting to be like my father in some ways, probably accounts for my focus on freeway projects connecting Istanbul with Kabul. That's what I'm likely as not Googling about. I log my studies to Facebook, to my timeline. Lots of Youtubes. Work-study programs. Global U. American drivers to be included (not exclusively of course) in for-credit scenarios.
I haven't given up on trucking you see, for all the talk of Peak Oil (and Global Warming). They might be battery powered in a lot of cases. I just don't see "freeway culture" going away (more power to Hyperloop experiments, but it's really not either/or). To that end, open borders are important as you don't want trucks queueing for miles while goods rot, are stolen, get traded away. The EU and US both enjoy largely unfettered truck traffic. Africa is hoping for more of that too.
I'm sure this sounds somewhat off topic. I'm just underlining that planning for a sustainable biosphere likely involves trucking (which connects to shipping and rail) and I'm interested in those plans, especially in the Stans (not the US states so much, as the freeways there are doing fine without me). I'm not a PhD planner like my dad was, more a spin doctor by training (philosophy). When in Cairo, I made a point of leaving a Synergetics Folio with an important art school (early days of GST, corresponding with Bucky and Kenneth Boulding).
Closer to home, I've been working with the python-cuba working group to get Python Nation events in Cuba.[1] Success. SciPy Conference in Havana this year. Also "Chinese Peace Corps" refers to no specific group (it's generic), however let's just say I'm looking to CPC help on plans for an "enchanced Dignity Village" or call it EPCOT West (a showcase refugee base near PDX airport). More in my journals.[2]
Today I get to teach more Martian Math in a local Catholic school. That's something I pioneered thanks to Saturday Academy and Reed College, and an likewise branding as "esoteric Quaker" (long story, I've told it before on QuakerQuaker so no need to repeat). It's a way of rebranding the Bucky stuff, which I'm still seeing as biosphere-friendly and way under-valued by so-called "US" public schools. [3]

Please find below a link to a post by Dr. Bates regarding his contention against NOAA a NOAA official who did not released datasets used in the publication of a paper that suggested there was no stasis in the increase of global temperatures making it impossible for peer review and replication. This is an important as it is from the man himself who went public against the agency he retired from.
In the following sections, I provide the details of how Mr. Karl failed to disclose critical information to NOAA, Science Magazine, and Chairman Smith regarding the datasets used in K15. I have extensive documentation that provides independent verification of the story below. I also provide my suggestions for how we might keep such a flagrant manipulation of scientific integrity guidelines and scientific publication standards from happening in the future. Finally, I provide some links to examples of what well documented CDRs look like that readers might contrast and compare with what Mr. Karl has provided.

This blog post you cited Keith, it seems really zoomed in and bureaucratic. I take it you're not debating point that the global climate is changing, but rather how that question is being addressed by specific government entities. Reminds me of complaints about NIST re Nine Eleven (poor science). In our Meeting, we're at least as focused on Nine Eleven as Global Warming, given David Chandler is one of our members.
This post reminds me of how I started smoking, soon after high school.
The school had shown a propaganda film to us before graduation, citing studies based on massive dosages of cigarette tars to animals (not explaining well enough why this was needed to show the all-too-real danger using short-lived experimental animals) so I thought this was simply another example of the authorities lying to us.
I quit before I did myself irreparable damage. Some people I've really missed didn't.
