Lesson plan of the month

This will be a place to share new lesson plans that might be relevant for friends. I teach grade 7,8 and 9 students in Winnipeg Canada, in a secular school system. Most of my students are aniishinabe, inninimo, and pinoy. I tend to prefer teaching through the arts. I may also sometimes throw in samples of student work at various levels of development to keep myself grounded in reality. I hope you might find a useful one here that you can try in your own practice.

At Brooklyn Friends School in New York, I also teach middle schoolers with the visual arts, video & animation. Most projects I assign are required to have a message of concern, therefore being illegible for the Bridge Film Festival. Here is a link to the Bridge Film Festival YouTube channel. These student made films reflect quaker values in action. This resource of short films raises issues of concern from students around the world. Here is a lesson plan to use with the films.
