Many many individual Quakers have been strongly influenced by the surrounding culture from pretty far back in our history. Deists in the 18th & 19th Centuries, materialists in the 20th etc.

Sometimes that surrounding culture gets really strange...

Some cultural manifestations can be pretty damaging to people's personal development-- and this looks like a prime example. Much depends on how addictively these girls might be relying on crowd energy to substitute for the personal affection that many modern American families have trouble expressing well. Some child stars reportedly never grow out of it. "Having a good time doing something silly"? Or making a desperate bid for a love that might not have been visible when it was most needed?
