I do not like to criticize such good people as the Quakers. The trick is to fulfill the law, not to destroy it.

With all that said I do feel that modern liberal Quakers have given up Holiness in exchange for service. It also seems that conservative Friends have given up Holiness in exchange for Scripture.

Holiness is for me the complete embodiment of Christ/Spirit. It is through Holiness that the mundane is made ecstatic.That the Light of God is made visible; that we are able to share the Light; That those who are of the same Light recognize it and grow within the Light we share.

Where oh where has our Holiness gone?

What is really strange is that I have seen the Light and Holiness of God in the service that 'Friends' have done, yet they do not see it within themselves. To guide, comfort, enrich and grow from.

By being able to accept the Holiness of God as one's own holiness, rather than making one more egocentric it has the opposite effect. Releasing one from the doubt, fears and guilt of one's self. It is a wonderful step on the path to God.

I wonder where has our Holiness gone?
