17/02/2013 I worshipped with 5 (6?) others in expectant waiting with the conservative flavour of Friends. Although, I found it hard to settle initially because I had not come to worship with my heart and mind fully prepared.
There was however a "brief" period of where I lost sense of time and was gathered and felt the presence. Although not moved to minister, I did think about how am I being "Salt" at the moment (Matthew 5) . A few days later I still cannot answer that question.
A Friend was moved to minister about Elijah being alone on the mountain and being in despair and thinking he is the only one left that is being faithful. He then hears that quiet still voice, and realises God is not in the storm or the earthquake. Afterwards we agreed that it was interesting that this was also the point where God appoints a successor for Elija, it is time for him to pass on the banton.
I would like to thank Alistair and his wife Jill for their fellowship at Ripely Quaker Meeting, Derbyshire, central England. God-willing I hope to join them again in person, or occasionally via Skype.
As a self-confessed convergent Friend I treasure this gift of being able to worship with others. That also means though living as faithfully as possible as a member of German Yearly Meeting. This coming Sunday, I am on the door and look forward to welcoming old Friends and new seekers. I look forward to waiting expectantly.
