Thanks to an agreement with Earlham’s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program, residential M. Div. students have the option of selecting teaching as their ministry emphasis and utilizing courses from the MAT program.
Required courses for this emphasis include:
- ED 520 Foundations in Education (offered in early June)
- ED 522 Learning Theories (offered in fall semester)
- ED 531 Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (offered in fall semester)
The fourth course required for the emphasis may be chosen from:
- ED 520 Human and Moral Development (offered in late June)
- ED 591 Teacher as Researcher (offered in fall semester)
- Or a related course from the ESR or Bethany curriculum
Other important facts:
- Interested students should have an exploratory conversation with Randy Wisehart of the MAT program to determine if the student’s interest will be well-matched with this curriculum.
- These courses are only available to students choosing the teaching emphasis. They are not available as electives.
- There will be no difference in tuition costs to ESR students.
- The MAT operates as a cohort group. ESR students who choose this emphasis will need to participate in the June & Fall sequence of courses. The first offering of these courses will be June 2014.
