Ever since I became a Quaker in my mid-30s I’ve been aware of past schisms among Friends and wondered about how they came about. Those were idle musings so long as the schisms (Hicksite/Orthodox, Gurneyite/Wilburite, etc.) were matters of the distant past, but now as a member of Indiana Yearly Meeting I’m experiencing a potential schism in the making.
