Replacing an old 2009 event which ended up canceled due to undersubscription, sadly. but see no way to delete, so .... news of life since 2009...
2009 folded into 2010, my cancer once treated seems to be in remission, and I begin a life officially in retirement. Then 2010 plays a trick, and my sweet life partner dies with no warning, to us or to him.
Is retirement due to hold? or will I return to work? Discernment continues, as does service in my community and among Friends.

In preparing for a Quakerism class on 'testimonies' I rejoice that many are feeling as I, that we get away from understanding the core meaning of what it means 'live the testimonies' when we use shorthand.
I find that is actually true for many things, actually. When we use shorthand, there is more of a tendency for people to get hooked incorrectly on the meaning we want to convey.

This morning I read an NYT article about the need for community action to make real change in the environment, and the challenges at this time when the strategies that would help are blocked by the current negative climate in DC. I read that individual action is valiant, but what will make a change is the community working together.
Early Friends knew this. Our testimonies get attention because of the shared sacrifice and shared support of that sacrifice.…
