Hello Isabel,

As a DC Friend, I enjoy seeing in these 2009 photos something that I also see at our meeting.  There are many Friends who seek to dress in some form of "plain and simple" dress, usually with less color.

Then for a few, there is what I think is a leading too:  to reflect "all the colors of the rainbow"!  I notice this more among children, who have not yet learned to keep it all in and be as properly repressed as the rest of us poor folks, but also I notice this among those who are simply spilling over with the Light....   I believe all these are Divine leadings.

I enjoyed seeing your Ohio examples which reflect back to me this perhaps universal pattern?  One thing striking about it is that the color so often does seem to be an obvious leading:  a crowd of people who either dress plain or just put something simple together, and then "oh look, here comes a rainbow!" / and you find someone just brimming over with it, like 2 of the children in these photos are doing.

I love both the impulse to dress plain and to submit to God through that discipline, and the examples that appear like a Divine failure to be able to be plain.   Both profound witnesses in their own ways.

in peace,

Olivia
