Quakers long ago learned to "question authority" and espoused the idea of doing their own thinking i.e. "knowing experimentally" what's so.  Making room for an outlier narrative that dares question some of our most authoritative pronouncements would seem something Quakers might do, and did, in giving me both a room and some chalk (and a few philosophy students), for my short talk.  My thanks to Earlham College and my daughter (a student there) in particular.
