Urging Meetings to support the UN treaty banning nuclear weapons

Quakers understand that humans seek to organize their affairs according to rules we might agree to, with the Quaker Meeting for Business serving as a model of the Good Order of Friends.

How we self organize is a manifestation of our faith and loyalty to an ideal, which comes to us intuitively through continuing revelation.  "On Earth as it is in Heaven..."

The Multnomah Meeting has been sending letters to all the Friends meetings we might reach regarding the UN Treaty to criminalize nuclear weapons (their development, use, possession), urging minutes in support.

We understand that in a world run by organized crime, such efforts to establish a more ideal world order don't always get very far in the short term.

We point to the Kellog-Briand Treaty, still on the books, as another example of humans putting their best foot forward, even when backsliding was inevitable.
