Primitive Christianity Revived, Again
I'm clerk of our meeting so there are a lot of duties that come with that. But the duties are such privilege. Since we have no formal leadership, everyone takes leadership and everyone is equal. It gives me a chance in our meeting to find the gifts in others and help to empower them. We've been able to start a peace and justice center and take off on all kinds of projects that I think if I didn't have that Friends community and we weren't together, these would be wishes in my head: why doesn't the world do this, why doesn't the world do that. Complaints against society as opposed to opportunities to really make peace.
I'm so glad that over these last 17 years I've found Quakers. At 62 years old, I feel like a kid in a spiritual candy shop where each day there are new discoveries and learnings, things I never would have imagined if I hadn't had a chance to open myself up to Spirit in the way that worshiping with Friends allows.
