Primitive Christianity Revived, Again
A Quaker's Camera and the Spitalfields Nippers
Around 1910, photographer and Quaker Horace Warner took a series of portraits of some of the poorest people in London.
Children of London during the 19th and early 20th century lived in abject poverty. Some lived in workhouses. There was a significant population of orphans and homeless children on the streets. Horace Warner documented this phenomenon in 1912 when he took a series of photographs in East End London titled "Spitalfields Nippers."
