The journey everyone is on, whether they know it or not, is about transformation: from child to adult; from receiver to provider; from stranger to friend.  This is true in the spiritual as well as the natural.  Everyone's journey is different.  Everyone faces obstacles on their journey.  In the natural world these obstacles can determine what kind of life we live; in the spiritual world how we deal with obstacles detemines how much progress we make in our transformation from merely human to Christlike.  The key of course is love.  When we follow love on our journey the obstacles are approached differently.  Instead of being events that must be removed from our path they become events that transform us and act as wormholes to deliver us to a place that would take lifetimes to reach by ordinary means.  Who we are as spiritual creatures at any moment depends on how much we have been transformed by God's love in the absorbtion of our journey''s "obstacles", not by how we have ignored them or gone around them but by how we have made them part of our life without characterizing them as either good or bad.
