Martin gave an excellent presentation yesterday. He made several important points, including the fact that two important websites that often introduce others to Friends are not owned by Friends at all and that we should be aware that to some degree others are being allowed to define what it means to be a Quaker.

Martin then gave an overview of some important websites. He showed some sites of Quaker bloggers who are well known to folks here including LizOpp, Wes Daniels, and Johan Maurer. He pointed out some interesting Quaker sites such as Quaker Jane and the Friends Journal - the latter partially in conjunction with an introduction to QuakerAds. Martin gave the history of his blog and showed how he ended up creating this QQ site. The last portion of the presentation was a brief introduction to the Convergent movement.

While the meeting was not well attended, I believe that it was helpful. I don't think that many of those gathered had much previous interaction with the Quaker web. As far as I can recall, there was only one person there who was younger than Martin and me. Most were Friends of experience who mostly appeared to be retired.

Also I should mention that Martin brought a camera to tape the presentation. He said that if the sound and picture are good he hopes to post a video here for others to watch. I don't think that he will provide popcorn, but those who need some can contact me.
