Primitive Christianity Revived, Again
Hi Friends
It's that time of the quarter again: QuakerQuaker's Paypal account has run dry and it's time for a special appeal. A couple of internet bills are coming due over the next few weeks and we need a bit of extra help.
Please consider giving what you can as a one-time gift or (if you can) learn how to sign up for monthly support. Every bit helps toward the expenses!
I'm also to hear how you're using QuakerQuaker these days. While the editors continue to highlight many of the week's most interesting online discussions and conversation continues on the discussion boards, the actual format of QQ hasn't changed much in years. How to you relate to the site? Do you visit QuakerQuaker.org itself or follow along on Facebook and Twitter? Do you read and forward the daily email? Are the site discussion boards important to you? Do you use the site to share you Quaker insights or keep up with a wider conversation? Email me at info@quakerquaker.org to share your QQ story!
Blessings to you all.
In Friendship, Martin Kelley
send me your snailmail address and I will send you a check.
I read the posts that show up in my email and (very rarely) respond as led.
I would like to encourage people to give a monthly donation to Quakerquaker. I believe this site is a significant forum for discussion and communication among Quakers of all types.
I would also like to suggest that people consider having their Monthly Meeting make a yearly contribution to Quakerquaker. Many Monthly Meetings contribute to Quaker organizations like FCNL and AFSC. I believe that Quakerquaker is as significant as those organizations and would like to see it supported at the Monthly Meeting level.
Best wishes,
Jim
Well.... I have a big collection of an assortment of odd and often old Quaker books. Oddly enough, random visitors are not enthralled with the occasional thrilling passage I might wish to share with them from my treasure of Quakerdom related literature. So, my only chance of getting an audience is here! And I seek to learn from others of what they may have discovered from their own reading, inner work, conferences, experiences etc. Often I end up all a-fluster and discouraged, since this isn't meeting and this isn't spiritual nourishment but I am without any sort of community or support in my life so this is all I have, and much of the stuff brings me to a barren intellectual place with impossible questions without answers. I am on the verge of stopping calling myself Quaker or Friend altogether, and perhaps I will sell or donate my collection, but at least I can share some of it along with my random pseudo-leadings and various other despairs.
quakerworship.org (24/7) and quakercenter.org (GMT1530 daily) are only a click away...
Thanks Barbara. There's a short story called "The Machine" written in the early 1900s about a society where people were completely isolated and only communicated via a Machine, that clearly resembled the Internet. I appreciate the kindnesses one can find online, I guess there is something organic in me that doesn't feel right without human presence. So, what I am saying is, I use this site to share information that may or may not be relevant, and however G-d deals with me now, I don't care, as G-d doesn't need the Religious Society of Friends to get things done, however much my long emotional attachment to this manifestation of G-d 's work on earth has always meant to me. . However, I tend to go astray, and this isn't the question Martin asked so I will leave off, just thought I'd clarify and will leave this topic so Martin may gather the information he was looking for. . .
I use QQ in two ways: (1) I check it every few days to find new blog posts and discussions or comments on existing ones; (2) I post blogs and discussions.
Under the second category I also post excerpts from Quaker Universalist Conversations, the blog which I edit for the Quaker Universalist Fellowship. When Friends respond here or on the QUC blog, I welcome the ongoing discussions.
I also make an automatic monthly donation to QQ.
Blessings,
Mike
