From Commandment to Declaration
On the occasion of my conviction as a Christian I was given a song: Abba, I love thee with all my heart/Abba, I love thee with all my soul. Abba, I love thee with all my strength/Abba, thy will be done. Give us today our daily bread/Abba, I love thee with all my soul. And do not put me to the test/Abba, thy will be done. Abba, thy will be done.
During worship this week I realized that with the coming of Christ, and for Christians, what had been a commandment - You shall love the Lord, your God with all your heart, and all your soul, and all your strength - has become a declaration. This is the substance of our faith
