I embrace the basic Quaker commitment to respect and dignity for all people. I have attended various Friends Meetings intermittently for about 30 years. I almost always find peace, solace, and strength in silent worship. I also admire and value the current and historic Quaker peace and justice organizing and actions. Friends have made significant contributions to liberation and equality here in America and around the world. I also admire Friends efforts to involve all persons in group decision-making. Another thing I find uniquely honorable is Friends support and love for the Philadelphia-based MOVE organization and journalist Mumia Abu-Jamal. Hopefully some day soon, freedom and justice will be gained for the "MOVE 9" and for Mumia. The Quaker efforts to address global climate change as a top priority may well help save the human race from boding disaster, and possible demise. This clearness of mind and vision is, I believe, truly unique.
