I'm originally from Iowa and raised as a United Methodist. I became a member of Iowa Yearly Meeting (FUM) and am still a recorded minister with IYM. However, I attend Sandy Spring meeting in Maryland and have developed an affinity for unprogrammed Quaker meeting.
Thanks, Tom! I'll write as soon as this cold spell breaks up. My questions concern what happened to the Stavanger meeting after it was established.
By the way, have you ever heard of "the Saints", a pietist schism from the Lutheran Church. They were widespread in Scandinavia, and I think that the group at Roldahl with Quaker proclivities was probably made up of "Saints".
I have often wondered about the Stavanger Friends, and their migration from one affiliation to another, and finally to an unaffiliated status.
I read with interest the article in Country magazine some years ago, and wanted to know more about the "Stavanger journey". I may ask some more questions (by private mail), if you are willing.
Did you know that QuakerQuaker is 100% reader supported? Our costs run to about $50/month. If you think this kind of outreach and conversation is important, please support it with a monthly subscription or one-time gift.

Hello again, Tom!

Welcome, Tom!
Interesting pilgrimage! I would like to hear more about it.
My wife came from near Paullina IA, in the northwestern corner of the state.
