I have not studied the Bible much in relation to this issue, but I suspect that your reading is the most valid. The title of Douglas Bennett's blog, "Five Snippets", suggests to me that he is doing a liberal version of proof-texting, in reverse in this case, and not of looking at the big picture.
I have Willard Swartley's book on *Homosexuality* on order, and look forward to seeing what he has to say. I doubt that he will use a "snippets" hermeneutic!
