Hi,
I am a mother and wife in Maine who has studied and been a part of several traditions and have never quite found the right one for me..although I have gained wonderful light from most..and have seen undesired murk, I have decided to go it alone until I find a place of peace to worship without all kinds of church fighting. I have been led to live a simpler life. a;so, with some degree of change in my clothing. Specifically, to sew and make my own clothes. I have bought some handmade clothes until I better learn to sew. I am doing this both because I came across a scripture in the Bible and because I have a very strong social and political view about the over- sexualization of our culture and the damage mentally, physically and spiritually to woman and children, especially.I have been praying and seeking God's direction and came across things about Quakers that are similar to what I have found for my own truths. I am not a very Liberal person but believe in equality for all. I have a very strong Faith in Christ. I am a Justice Major with a Minor in Mental Health, and activist, but first a Mother and wife.Ii appreciate your site as there seems to be no one around my area of Maine is feels led to plain-dress, but that's ok I do have a very nice meeting house here in,Maine with nice folks and I am blessed everyday hearing and experiencing some lovely perspectives and growing with each view.We are all here together to help each other out. I am really enjoying George Fox's Journal and learning about all the influence the past and present woman have offered as well. Lovely .

Try to contact Ralph Green in eastern Maine, near New Brunswick. The last I heard, he was convening a group of Christian unprogrammed Friends in that area and would probably be happy to hear from you. I think that he and you would be on the same "wave length!"
Did you know that QuakerQuaker is 100% reader supported? Our costs run to about $50/month. If you think this kind of outreach and conversation is important, please support it with a monthly subscription or one-time gift.
