- I have been an unprogrammed Quaker for 17 years. My ancestors were Quakers and Thomas Fitzwater came to the New World in 1682 on the ship Welcome with William Penn. Professionally, I have been a university professor for 28 years and am currently a professor at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, in hematology/oncology where I teach, advise students and conduct research as a social/behavioral scientist.
