So much to say - so little that can truly be understood between us humans. I'm a member of Multnomah Meeting and live in Portland Oregon. I struggle with all the same philosophical/theological issues we all do; but the big question is, "How can I be the kind of person that I most idealize being?; kind, energetically and creatively helpful to others, peace loving, able to see that of God in everyone, and bring understanding and peace wherever I am; all those Quaker values I grew up with." The truth is that I have not succeeded in this endeavor. I can usually figure out how to fix things and make things work well in the physical world, but "bringing peace to the world??" - probably not. I can't even find peace with those I love the most.
Many see me as an outdoor adventurer: healthy and athletic; yes, I have cultivated that image, but the core of who I am is more about experiencing the world for myself - I am not satisfied with simply taking the word of others as the truth without my own deep understanding, that comes from intense research, or direct experience of my own. So - yes, sometimes I travel and explore the world for myself. I've blown around in the wind many times and places over my 64 + years - but, my Friend, I've not yet found the answer, though I've heard it's out there somewhere blowing in the wind. I just know the answer's not war.

David Henderson from Swarthmore FM could use your help. No one wants to use their existing hearing assistance system. I wrote good stuff about the one at MMMH and also suggested some social, M&W committee work. He expressed interest in finding out about your system. They might want to put in a technical fix, so I let him know your name and your presence on QuakerQuaker.
Did you know that QuakerQuaker is 100% reader supported? Our costs run to about $50/month. If you think this kind of outreach and conversation is important, please support it with a monthly subscription or one-time gift.
