The Book of Wisdom and Judith are both apocryphal books. They are not in Protestant Bibles, but Catholic bibles like the Jerusalem Bible, New Jerusalem, New American Bible and even the RSV with Apocrypha will have these books. While they were rejected by Luther and other reformers, they are referenced by gospel writers and the people who wrote the epistles. I follow a two year reading schedule that includes all the apocryphal books. I have the reading schedule posted on my personal blog if you want to check it out: http://catholicquaker.blogspot.com/ - I do the same posts there.
The Barclay referred to is William Barclay. He has a good series called the Daily Study Bible Series published by the Westminster Press of Philadelphia. Thank you for your questions.
Did you know that QuakerQuaker is 100% reader supported? Our costs run to about $50/month. If you think this kind of outreach and conversation is important, please support it with a monthly subscription or one-time gift.
