I have been drawn to Friend's testimonies my entire life. My mother's mother was a plain friend but she passed when my mother was a young girl approximately 5 years of age. Her father remarried and she was brought up in the Methodist tradition. My husband and I were regular attenders at the Montclair Friends Meeting in northern NJ under the care of NYYM. We left meeting after about approximately 3 years (in the early 1980's) because of distance issues (we moved and lived 1:20 min from meeting).
We attended a Lutheran Church near our home but had many issues of conscience relating to religious ideology. My youngest son attended Camp Darkwaters in Medford, NJ. My husband Ken was transferred to St Augustine 5 years ago and again we were an hour away from meeting. After long searching I have Approached Jacksonville Meeting about the advisability of starting a worship group in St Augustine under the care of their meeting. So far it is under discernment to whether it will be under the care care of Jacksonville Monthly meeting or South Eastern Yearly Meeting. We have be married 39 years this 9th month and have 3 adult children. Jeremy, Kira and our youngest Robin.
