Primitive Christianity Revived, Again
The interesting relationship between Quakers and the non conformity to the Papacy raises an interesting LGBT issue. As many parts of Europe are changing their politics to same sex equality such as Ireland and Italy. Do LGBT quakers feel that their faith in their own community is at all influential on the homophobic crisis that so many governments pass laws against. In the choice not to be political but by always reaching out a hand to those in need, are LGBT Quakers at a point where their own self sufficiency can embrace the dialogue to form an entire LGBT friendly church in the United States. It maybe we don't have to change a thing in the Bible to see that homosexuality is faithful, observant, and a holy union which ought to be seen in it's breath and breadth overtime. While the controversy between an LGBT friendly Church and the rise of laws stating it's equality in Government, are Quakers in or out, are we truly acting theologically or as a social service minded institution to enable Civil Rights. LGBT civil rights are certainly within the reach of our own theological beliefs. As a gay Quaker, I feel while I am not obliged to carry the cross according to a homophobic orthodoxy. I would like to think that the international voice is giving rise to the gay voices of our entire civilization.
