Primitive Christianity Revived, Again
I especially liked this quote:
Modesty is about a person, male or female, choosing to foster an inner spirit of humility and dignity, and communicating that in outward, culturally contextualized symbols of dress and behavior.
Great article, thanks for posting Patrice!
It's interesting because I do not dress modestly for the sake of men in any way. Men are, like other humans, responsible for their own actions, and swayed by their own stimuli. I dress modestly as part of our Testimony to simplicity, as an act of prayer, and, "
I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works."
It's interesting that so many discussions of modesty -regardless of perspective -ends up talking about this whole response-of-men thing.
