The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

I just wanted to share the joy of encountering this very familiar, short parable this morning in my reading of Matt 13. It seems like a simple thing: Hiding a bit of heaven (leaven) in the measures of meal of life around me. Jesus seems to suggest that, as long as it is real, we don't need much leaven to eventually make a dramatic impact on our world. A couple of chapters later, he mentions that there is also a leaven of the Scribes and Pharisees. Yeah, I'm afraid that I've also dispensed some of that overly-religious leaven. But, for today, I hope to be more like this woman...and hide the good stuff.
