I am looking looking for historical information about the Quaker Star, (other than Wikipedia.) Specifically, what the intention of the design is.
This red and black star has been used as a symbol of Quaker service since the late 19th century
unofficially, and was officially adopted (with some changes) by the American
Friends Service Committee autonumber" rel="nofollow"">[1] in 1917. Another variation on it is
used by the British organization Quaker Peace
and Social Witness [2]. Version with white
background.

The "Historical Dictionary of the Friends" only has this: "The first official Friends War victims Relief Committee adopted the black and red Quaker Service star emblem in 1870-1871 during the Franco-Prussian War." I wonder if they needed a symbol to put on the sides of their relief vehicles and supplies?
