[and if I'm confused about this, I'm probably not alone]:

What is the relation between God, "Christ", and that person named 'Jesus'?

Please feel free to use whatever terminology works best for what you have to say... though I suspect we'll have a wide range here[?]

Christ, the Logos, the Wisdom of God, the Eternal Manifestation of God; Jesus, the Incarnation of that Wisdom, the One who came to Set Us Straight.

But then, as Rufus Jones said, "Whatever your mind comes at, I tell you flat, God is not that!"

Well, I tend to like Rufus, but I've found too many other people using the inadequacy of human intellect-- to justify reducing God, in practice, from "beyond what we can fully conceive" to "less than we have conceived, and do conceive!"

What you said in the first paragraph makes sense and sounds right to me.

How to consider various other Christian ideas... ie, that after Jesus' death, God put him in charge of the world? Just another one of numerous misunderstandings people have arrived at over the centuries? Or... I like this better:  a reflection of people coming to understand that God is like Jesus, not like their their worst fears.

Having found that God really is like that (as Jesus happens to say here & there) I've tended to wonder, both about the forms Christianity has taken-- and the follies people are even more likely to embrace when they dismiss Christianity.

I'm not sure if I understand your question exactly, Forrest, but I have always understood this relation according to what the first chapter of the Gospel of John describes.
