How can a vision-impaired Friend get involved?

I have a f/Friend who is dealing with severe and progressive vision impairment, though she is not yet legally blind. At this stage, she gets around with a white cane and has enough functioning sight that she does not yet qualify for a service animal. She would like to share ideas or work with other vision-impaired Friends who are making useful contributions. Do you know of anyone I can put her in touch with?
