During his trip to the New World, George Fox offered this message to Friends gathered in New England and a member of the Borden family had the presence of mind to take notes! Eric Edwards was looking at the Swarthmore papers (the chief documentary source for early Quaker history, a collection of letters and papers at Devonshire House containing about 1400 original documents) seeking as yet unpublished epistles from Fox. There he came across this set of notes in which he finds both historical interest and meaty content for Friends today to chew on.
While we have a lot of Fox's written (or dictated) words - epistles and his journal - it's rare to be able to study his spoken word. In this one day workshop Eric will set the context for Fox's message and then we will consider what in Fox's word speaks to us, today.
