Andrew Wright is leading an online course where you will encounter a new approach to Paul's letter to the Romans. Over the last 30-40 years, new scholarship has led to a re-evaluation of Romans. It has sought to understand Paul in his own context, rather than through layers of Christian history, and is far less about individual salvation and the condemnation of Judaism. Instead, Romans develops a theology that explains God’s fairness and loving desire to extend God’s promises beyond the Jews to include all the nations. We will explore our own responses to the understanding of God’s universal salvation Paul expresses in this letter.

Andrew is presenting this material in 3 formats - a historical/critical approach; an approach that emphasizes the experience of reading Romans; and an approach that combines the two. You can sample two or three of these as you like and settle in to the thread that suits your learning style.
