And potluck afterwards at a Friend's house within long walking or short driving distance of BFC.

Thanks to Robin (I'm guessing) for posting this. Here's a little bit more from our flyer for the event, to whet your appetites:

HOLINESS: THE SOUL OF QUAKERISM?

Holiness is an idea that has been more divisive than uniting for the Society of Friends. Yet it was unmistakably important in the experience and faith of the first Quakers. Carole Spencer maintains that holiness, while neglected by many Friends today, provides an “ongoing thread that serves as the common denominator of normative Quakerism”. Nor was holiness solely the domain of nineteenth-century revivalist Friends. In fact, we can see various aspects of holiness in the lives of Quakers throughout our history and in each of our divergent traditions. What's more, understanding holiness as a “spiritual quality in which human life is ordered and lived out as to be consciously centered in God” opens the way for us to see the possibilities for our own lives, whether we might consider ourselves to be evangelical, liberal, mystical, or some other kind of Friends (read: convergent).

One more thing: If you've RSVP'ed here, but haven't contacted the church to register, please do so by 3/28! Details are in the attached flyer.

In Christ's Light,

Brian Young
Pastor, Berkeley Friends Church
