My understanding is Nixon's mom was really disturbed by how her son swore like a sailor now that he was back from his time in the Navy. She asked the then director of AFSC to have a conversation with her son, which he did, only to have suffered a fatal heart attack a few days thereafter, so we don't really know what they talked about.

I see from my journal I got this story from Arthur Dye, former AFSC regional director, and a boss of mine at Center for Urban Education (CUE), spawn of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon (EMO).
