Chris Mohr on continually rediscovering that fire of the primitive Quakers

An interview with San Francisco Meeting's Chris Mohr

I keep getting a connection to the ineffable, that thing beyond words that makes us connected with one another. I felt that the first time I came to a Friends meeting and discovered people sitting in silence was a profound and deep experience for me. We reproduced that this weekend.

I've been a part of these [Convergent] conversations since they were just getting started and what makes it powerful is rediscovering that fire of the primitive Quakers. What we were talking about this weekend was reclaiming what the primitive Quakers had again for us: primitive Christian revived.

It's about Version 350 [of primitive Christianity revived], every year we need to continually reveal where we're at. Continual revelation means each generation needs to rediscover it for themselves. We did a lot of uncovering and discovering this weekend.

One of the things that kept coming up for me [this weekend] was taking opportunities to worship together. Friends gather wherever two or three are gathered. You can worship together. You don't have to just plan, strategize or organize. You can sink down into the seed and see what comes up.
