When has an experience of the Light changed your perception of someone or some thing?

Chapter 20 of Minding the Light: Our Collective Journal is now available online and attached as a PDF file, below. For this chapter, we invited Friends to respond to the query, “When has an experience of the Light changed your perception of someone or something?" In response, we received 13 stories and two photos.  One of the stories was from a 7-year-old Friend.

We invite you to read these stories for yourself. What  stories rise for you as you sit with our latest query? Consider sharing your response on QuakerQuaker!

There are links below to our website, where all 20 chapters of Minding the Light can be found, and to a PDF version of Chapter 20.

Minding the Light is a bimonthly publication of West Hills Friends, a Quaker meeting in Portland, Oregon. Using the guidelines of "worship sharing," we invite members and attenders to reflect on a specific query for each chapter.

Blessings!

I believe the light entered my heart when my foolish pride had me believe that my suffering was caused by self affliction. Today I look to my elders for wisdom. In my own way I feel very much like the dog and cat story at the end with my own twist. I am a boy who is a child, who likes to be a girl who likes boys. The light reaches my heart philosophically only as much as I know that my story is a deliverance, but perhaps more so it is a recovery of wishing life were perfect, settling for the reprieve of traumatic stress to unwind, calling out to those in need of attention, and whispering to my true love that I had waited all this time to be in his arms again.

Hey Sally I just made reference to your post in another post.  One thing I have been thinking of that sometimes it is an experience of darkness that brings me into closer communion in Light.
