My seeds are sprouting nicely.  Of course they were dropped right in the middle of a "rapid rooter" so no seed were wasted, something that didn't bother Jesus' sower who is more concerned with the soil into which the seed is sown than the seed itself (1 Timothy 2:3 &4: For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.)

With our hearts as the soil into which God's precious seed is sown it is our responsibility to see that that soil is not hardened like the wayside of the parable.  A hardened heart believes every negative thought that comes its way.  Instead of believing that we are special in God's eyes as clearly stated in the bible and especially as preached during revival in every church in every part of the sower's field, we give ear to the attacks on the preacher or the church or the accuracy of the bible thus throwing out the baby with the bath water and allowing the fowls of the air(waves?) to devour God's message of love and hope leaving us cynical, frustrated, angry and/or depressed.  Psalm 95:8 warns us of this when it says: Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness.

Of course if it was easy to eliminate the wayside the sower would have done so but we tend to walk where we want to in life and make waysides as we go, especially where we go repeatedly.  It's a little harder to walk carefully and not take the shortcuts which are so tempting but eventually lead to a hardened heart.  However, each day we are given opportunities to soften our hearts by going the extra mile and turning the other cheek when confronted with the myriad annoyances of daily life and relationships.  When God's grace and anointing is being sown abundantly and it is raining on the just and the unjust we don't want to be the wayside.  The time to do something about our heart is now.  Don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today - Ben Franklin/Thomas Jefferson :)
